What is the Survey?

The Heartland in Motion Transportation Study is a survey of households located within Madison County and significant portions of Delaware and Hancock counties regarding their daily travel patterns and transportation preferences.  The information gathered from this study is crucial to gain a better understanding of how growth or other changes in our communities impact the transportation system.

Why is it Important?

Studies like the Heartland in Motion Transportation Study rely on data describing when, where, how, and why people travel. Understanding the travel behavior of real households, such as trips made to work, school, or shopping centers, will help transportation planners better prioritize transportation projects. The results of this study provide guidance for future highway improvements, expanded regional travel options, pedestrian and bicycle access improvements, and other related projects.
